Kariye Mosque (Originally Chora Church) ” A Legacy of Eastern Rome” known for its amazing mosaics and frescoes show scenes from both the Bible and Torah. Displaying one of the most important techniques of Byzantine religious art and has been built several times at the site. First built as part of a monastery in 534, this is the only remaining structure from a larger complex. Serving for many years as a church, the building converted into a mosque in 1511 with very few changes. It served as a museum after being restored in 1958 until current days.
